Wagner, Flávio


Flávio R. Wagner has a PhD in Computer Engineering from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. He is Professor Emeritus for Computer Science and Engineering at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He has been the President of the Brazilian Computer Society, the scientific association gathering Brazilian researchers in the field, for two terms, between 1999 and 2003. He was a member of the Board of CGI.br, the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee, for three terms, between 2008 and 2017, and also a member of the Board of NIC.br for two terms, between 2013 and 2017. He served in the MAG, the Multistakeholder Advisory Group of the IGF, between 2015 and 2017. He also served in the Multistakeholder Executive Committee of NETmundial, in 2014, and in the Secretariat of NETmundial+10, in 2024. Since 2018 he is the President of the Brazilian Chapter of the Internet Society, now in his third term. Since 2023, he serves in the Executive Committee of the IGF Support Association. Since 2017 he has been a Technical Consultant for CGI.br and, among other activities, is deeply involved with the organization of the Brazilian IGF.
