Protecting consumer rights: What regulatory approaches are/could be effective in upholding consumer rights, offering adequate remedies for rights violations, and eliminating unfair and deceptive practices from the part of Internet companies?
Panel - Auditorium - 60 Min
It is proposed to invite government officials, representatives of international organizations and enterprises, scholars to discuss issues on children’s personal information protection in cyberspace, calling on the international community to make join efforts to set up protection of children’s privacy. We hope this forum would be a platform to facilitate the effective exchange of information and practices among stakeholders from all countries. (1) Provide in-depth exchanges on experiences and practices of children’s personal information protection in cyberspace. (2)Discuss feasible measures of children’s personal information protection from various perspectives, explore the duty and responsibility of different stakeholders. (3) Promote and improve the legislation of children’s personal information protection in cyberspace. (4) Initiate a proposal to further promote the construction of a trustful and sound network environment, raise the awareness of all stakeholders on the related issue.
In order to facilitate and encourage interaction and participation, the open forum is proposed to include three sessions: keynote speech, panel discussion and Q&A. Both online and on site participants will be invited in each session. Meanwhile, the host would maximize the exchange between participants. The open form are planned to use tools/ platforms provided by the IGF.
