Panel - 60 Min
Appropriate moderation of the debate with moderator asking questions to both panelists and audiences will be accrued. The session will start with a ten minute introduction to the topic, followed by interventions (about 15 minutes) by speakers from different stakeholders. 10 minute will be set apart for open questions which will be answered by speakers that the moderator will identify.
The proposed set of panelists represents gender and expertise diversity. The submitters of this proposal invited representatives from different technical expertise, information technology, security, policy making and communication technology. We have a gender diversity, three of the invited speakers are female.
Different projects have been started in Iran in blockchain technology that will cover main issues in this topic such as social, economic, security, technology and use cases. The ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology is planning to create blockchain roadmap in Iran. In this panel, we will discuss the impact of blockchain technology on internet governance. The internet governance data might be secured using blockchain in a distributed fashion (distributed trust). We conclude the session by giving examples of scenarios where internet services are impacted by blockchain technology whether in terms of online services or data stored or verified online.
Part 1- Major technical aspects of blockchain
Considering the technical ecosystem of blockchain, in part 1 of the workshop, we will compare different platforms as the main component of the technology. We will also determine suitability of the most important platforms for each industry. Finally, we will discuss the relationship between blockchain and other technologies such as cloud, internet of thing and bigdata.
Part 2- Social and economic challenges and the role of governments
In part 2 of the workshop, we are going to define main actors and stakeholders of the blockchain Ecosystem and the roles that the government should play to expand this technology in Iran. We also analyze the government role in the future of blockchain Technology. We will define the regulations and legislations concerned to this topic and the major policy inhibitors. At the end we will introduce the most important socio-economic challenges ahead of enhancement of blockchain technology
Part 3- Security issues and challenges
In part 3 of the workshop, we first give a brief review of using blockchain technology in developed countries focusing on security challenges and their confrontation strategy. we then analyze privacy, security and identity issues for blockchain and DLT technology and give a strategy to overcome these challenges and issues for different vulnerabilities.
Part 4- Blockchain use cases in ICT
Blockchain has evolved from a technology for cryptocurrencies to one supporting applications in multiple industries, including ICT. Many applications are being proposed in ICT industry including IoT, 5G, Network Management, SDN/NFV. In this part of workshop, we explain some areas where ICT could deploy blockchain technology, then we introduce the best platform for each application.

Blockchain is a new technology which changes the digital world. There are many projects in Iran like PKI and DNS based on traditional views of chain of trust. These kinds of internet governance data can be secured using blockchain in a distributed and decentralized fashion. Iran government has started new projects in this era in order to decide how to use this technology for internet governance. The works in the projects will be explained in this workshop.
Remote Participants will be treated as equals in the Roundtable. The Remote Moderator will be encouraged to engage in online discussions with our Remote Participants and to create opportunities for interventions in the live session - through both comments and questions - potentially directly from the participant if technically feasible. The Moderator will frequently poll the Remote Moderator during the discussions to ensure that Remote Participants are not treated as an "afterthought".
