Concise description of the proposed workshop:

The proposed workshop shall aim to look at the emergence and growth of mobile Internet and the rule of law and governance in the context of the mobile Internet and how it can impact the further growth of Internet governance. Today, increasingly mobile access is creating large number of opportunities for all stakeholders in the ecosystem. However, this mobile ecosystem and opportunities being created has to be within the ambit of legal framework regulations and principles. The discipline of Mobile Law is beginning to emerge and it promises to be a huge discipline in the times to come. Mobile law needs to ensure that the principles of rule of law and governance must prevail in the context of the Mobile Internet. What would be these legal frameworks, regulations and principles and how can they help facilitate the growth of governance on the Internet? What are the major challenges when one explores the possibility of using mobile Internet as a tool for facilitating rule of law and governance on the Internet? What kinds of standards need to be observed in legal and policy arenas, which will help facilitate the further growth of Internet Governance? These and other related questions would be sought to be covered under the proposed workshop.
