Chaturvedi, Subi

Subi Chaturvedi is an activist- academician and adjunct faculty /Hon. Managing Trustee at IIIT Delhi (a state university by an act of Govt. of NCT of Delhi).

Subi is also the founder of Media For Change. She is  a media critic, columnist, multimedia producer and a regular commentator the countries leading state owned as well as private broadcasters. Her areas of intervention range from global internet governance, surveillance, privacy, freedom of speech and expression, women and safety, rights of women online, government policies for new media, broadband access, social media and internet.

She has co-directed Freedom Song a critically acclaimed documentary on FoE in India as an independent documentary filmmaker. And has run the country’s largest internet safety campaign Stop.Think.Connect for youth across India collaborating with India-Internet Safety Campaign. Subi has wide international exposure of international grading and rating system as a part of the design jury, at the IBC Amsterdam & a special observer at the world photo awards at Cannes, jury for the Canon India’s photo Marathon. She has conceived several innovative programs in new media technology and internet governance in leading Universities and technology institutes

Subi held seven roundtables & workshops on Internet Safety, Cybersecurity, privacy and concerns of the youth, enhanced cooperation, FoE, deepening democracy & the Internet & the NET4Peace & multistakeholderism across the country.

She contributed, immensely, as a member of:
•  the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) for the global Internet Governance Forum (UN-IGF), 2013 & a panelist at IGF, 2012, Baku
•  India Internet Governance Conference (IIGC), 2012
She is a member of
•  the MAG-India Internet Governance Forum (IIGF), 2013, (Civil Society)
•  the International Association for Women in Radio and television (IAWRT),
•  the Internet Society (ISOC).

Is the Founder of:
•  thesaltlist.org, a unique online alternative media portal run entirely by bright committed young women scholars from institutions of excellence across India. She also serves there as chief mentor and editor.
•  Media for change, a not for profit organization, a network of networks for grassroot NGOs working on women’s rights, youth issues, the right to information & education and digital policy & literacy advocacy and a bridge between the government and civil society/academia & the media.
